[Financial News, Jeongseon = Kim Gi-seop, Reporter] An unusual hike was held on Mindungsan in Jeongseon, where autumn silver grass was at its peak, with Santa figures hidden throughout the trails for participants to find. Around 180 people explored the silver-grass paths before enjoying a shopping trip to the traditional market.
According to the Gangwon Tourism Organization on the 7th, it held the Gangwon 20 Great Mountains Weekend Mountain Santa Hunt IN Jeongseon that day in the areas around Mindungsan and Gugongtan Market in Jeongseon County. Linked to the Gangwon 20 Great Mountains certification challenge, the hike let participants climb ridges blanketed in silvery silver grass and take in the feel of the autumn mountains.
The participants’ outing did not end on the mountain. After the organization refunded part of the participation fee in 5,000-won Jeongseon Love gift certificates, those who had descended headed to nearby Gugongtan Market to sample local food and shop. The organization said that hikers becoming customers at the traditional market also helped boost sales for small businesses in the area.
A treasure-hunt-style event added to the fun during the hike. Participants who found Santa figures hidden along the trail and took verification photos received prizes. A fall wildfire-prevention campaign was also held, with participants joining a pledge to help prevent wildfires and reflecting on the importance of safe hiking practices and forest conservation.
Yoon Tae-hwan, a division head at the Gangwon Tourism Organization, said, “We saw how the hike directly brought vitality to local businesses as participants who climbed Mindungsan at the height of the silver-grass season headed to Gugongtan Market with their gift certificates. We will develop more tourism programs that bring together the province’s famous mountains and traditional markets.”
