According to legal sources on the 8th, Seoul Western District Court Senior Judge Park Seok-geun issued an arrest warrant for a man in his 60s identified as A on the 7th, after conducting a pre-arrest suspect examination (warrant hearing), saying, “There is a risk that he may flee.”
A is accused of killing B, a woman in her 70s with whom he had previously been in a relationship, at his residence in Bulgwang-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, on the 5th.
After the incident, A was found by police beside B in an unconscious state and taken to a hospital. He was discharged the previous day after receiving treatment. During police questioning, he reportedly largely admitted to the charges, saying in effect, “I got angry and killed her after an argument broke out while we were talking.”
B is believed to have reported A for stalking four times in total since September 2024. Last July, A was arrested by police on suspicion of violating a provisional restraining order and going to see B and strangling her, among other alleged offenses. However, the prosecution at the time did not seek an arrest warrant, citing his health and the need for further investigation.
