[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said on the 7th that he would “listen to every service member’s voice,” sharing the news that a Consolation Train performance had been held at the Yeonpyeong Unit for the first time in 15 years.
That day, Lee shared on X (formerly Twitter) a wish expressed by a Marine when he visited the Yeonpyeong Unit last June. The Marine, who was then nearing discharge, said, “I’ve never seen a cultural performance on Yeonpyeong Island. I hope at least those who come after me can see a Consolation Train performance.”
Lee said, “I was truly grateful for the thought of putting successors first even as discharge approached.” He added, “That promise was kept. The Consolation Train performed at the Yeonpyeong Unit for the first time in 15 years.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the people involved with the Consolation Train who traveled all the way to Yeonpyeong Island so service members and local residents could enjoy the show together, saying, “I hope the music and cheers that rang out across the unit for the first time in a while will remain a happy memory for the service members.”
Lee stressed, “I will listen to every service member’s voice. I will also listen to the small wishes of the service members who defend our country and work to make them come true one by one.”
