[Financial News] U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) company Palantir Technologies is partnering with South Korean footwear manufacturer Changshin INC to bring AI to its manufacturing operations. The plan is to integrate AI and data analytics throughout the process, from shoe development to production, to improve work efficiency and identify problems in production at an early stage.
According to industry sources on the 6th, Changshin will adopt Palantir Technologies' data integration platform Foundry and AI platform AIP across its shoe development and production operations.
The partnership centers on connecting work and data that are currently separated by stage—including shoe development, sample production, production planning and factory operations. It will help each department get an integrated view of progress from development through production and quickly resolve problems that arise on the factory floor.
The two companies had previously confirmed the potential for applying AI to real-world work through a program called Agent Camp. Agent Camp is a program in which companies use their own data to build AI agents and put them to work in actual business operations.
As part of the program, Changshin engineers and Palantir Technologies built and demonstrated an initial workflow based on Changshin's real-world data. They assessed the potential for using AI to improve work efficiency and decided to expand its application through this partnership.
The two companies plan to connect decisions made during shoe development with factory production plans and actual operations. Their goal is to identify problems early by sharing information and feedback gathered on the production floor with the development team, and to reduce inefficiencies in handoffs between departments.
They also plan to use data accumulated during production in future product development and production planning. This will involve analyzing how decisions made during development affected actual production and applying those lessons to the development of subsequent products.
Palantir Technologies Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Ryan Taylor said, “Behind every pair of shoes Changshin produces is a series of decisions, from development and sample planning to the factory floor. The two companies will adopt Foundry and AIP to transform the entire process using Changshin’s expertise, while ensuring that Changshin retains control over the application of AI at every stage.”
