[Financial News] As AI-related stocks plunged following the US midterm elections, more than $15 billion evaporated from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s fortune in a single day. He also fell out of the world’s top 10 richest people.
Huang’s net worth was estimated at $150.9 billion after falling by $15.1 billion (about 20.5 trillion won) in a single day on the 5th (local time). His ranking on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index fell from 9th to 13th.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk lost $79.7 billion in assets, while Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison lost $10.1 billion.
Concerns that regulations on the construction of AI data centers would be tightened after Democrats took control of both chambers of Congress in the US midterm elections triggered a sell-off in technology stocks.
Nvidia shares plunged 9.3%, marking their biggest drop since January 2025. SpaceX fell 9% and Oracle 6.9%.
All three had been regarded as major beneficiaries of increased investment in AI data centers, and were directly hit by the plunge in related stocks.
The combined wealth of the world’s 500 richest people on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index fell by $185 billion (about 251 trillion won) in a single day. It was the 14th-largest one-day decline in wealth since Bloomberg began compiling the index in 2012.
