【Financial News, Incheon = Han Gab-soo, Staff Writer】 Himchan Hospital, which has expanded into Uzbekistan, is broadening educational and cultural exchanges with local schools and communities beyond sharing medical expertise.
Himchan Hospital, operated by the Sangwon Medical Foundation, said on the 6th that it had conducted an overseas training program for outstanding employees from its branches in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, for four days starting on the 3rd. This was the second such program, following the first in 2024.
The delegation toured clinical operations at Bukhara Himchan Hospital and shared practical know-how with local employees in nursing, physical therapy and administration. Employees from both countries also shared work methods and on-the-ground experience, taking time to better understand each other’s working conditions and organizational cultures.
On the 4th, officials from the Disability Functional Assessment Bureau of Uzbekistan’s National Agency for Social Protection under the President visited the hospital and examined the Korean-style physical therapy and rehabilitation system. Jamshid, director of Bukhara Himchan Hospital, and others introduced the status and results of local rehabilitation services.
That same day, Bukhara Himchan Hospital signed a business agreement with Bukhara City Specialized State General Education School No. 42. Key elements include education and disease-prevention activities to promote the health of students and school staff, as well as cultural exchanges between the two countries.
School No. 42, a leading school for Korean-language education, has engaged in exchanges with Korea, including a fan dance performance at a 2024 event marking the fifth anniversary of Bukhara Himchan Hospital’s opening. Lee Jae-seop, the hospital’s corporate representative, also taught Korean to students earlier this year and plans to continue providing education through volunteer work that shares his expertise.
Bukhara Himchan Hospital has worked with local medical institutions and communities, including serving as a hub hospital in 2023 when Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital provided volunteer medical services in underserved areas of Uzbekistan.
Park Hye-young, chair of the Sangwon Medical Foundation, said, “Bukhara Himchan Hospital is doing more than sharing Korea’s medical expertise; it is connecting healthcare professionals and staff, schools and communities in both countries.” She added, “We will continue to expand exchange programs that bring health and culture together.”
