The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) said it took part in the international tourism fair World Travel Market (WTM), held from the 3rd to the 5th at the ExCeL exhibition center in London, United Kingdom, and showcased the appeal of tourism in Korea.
The KTO operated a joint promotional pavilion with 23 organizations from Korea’s tourism industry, including regional tourism foundations, travel agencies and hotels, and introduced a range of tourism offerings in Korea. During the fair, it held a total of 790 one-on-one business meetings with global buyers.
The pavilion, which highlighted Korean beauty through hanbok jackets and mother-of-pearl patterns, featured spaces for business meetings and K-culture experiences. It also showcased a photo kiosk that used artificial intelligence (AI) to transform visitors’ images into those of kings and queens of the Joseon era, as well as an event offering traditional tea inspired by the call-bell culture of Korean restaurants.
Ewen Moore, sales director at UK-based travel agency Bamboo Travel, said, “As local interest in Korea grows, the range of people interested in travel products is also broadening.” He added, “Demand is increasing not only for K-dramas and K-beauty, but also for experiences of Korea’s history and regional cities.”
As the United Kingdom is one of Europe’s major inbound markets for travel to Korea, the KTO plans to strengthen cooperation with the local travel industry and support the development of a range of Korea-bound travel packages, including ones featuring regional tourist destinations.
