[Financial News] Hoban Group held a results briefing for its K-Science Talent Academy, sharing the outcomes of its education and research support. The academy was launched in response to Hoban Construction chairperson Kim Dai-heon’s belief that nurturing science and technology talent is necessary for sustainable corporate growth and stronger national industrial competitiveness. Hoban Group said on the 6th that the academy was held on the 5th at Hoban Construction’s headquarters in Seocho District, Seoul. The program included presentations on the research outcomes of winning teams in a university student project competition, followed by an awards ceremony.
A total of 65 teams of university students from across the country applied to this year’s project competition in four fields: artificial intelligence (AI), AI convergence (AI+X), physics and chemistry. The 10 teams selected in May received 2 million won each in research funding and conducted their research. In August, three teams with outstanding projects were selected following final presentations and evaluations.
The Grand Prize went to Inha University’s A.I.M team, which proposed an “Autonomous Driving Wheelchair Platform” in the AI+X field. The prize is 30 million won. The Best Excellence Award went to Kookmin University’s SPARK team, which developed “Technology for Identifying Everyday Plastics,” while the Excellence Award went to Korea University’s CU-F! team, which presented a “Plastic Upcycling Platform.” The prizes are 20 million won for the Best Excellence Award and 10 million won for the Excellence Award.
Hoban Group launched its initiative to nurture future science talent in earnest with a vision announcement ceremony for the K-Science Talent Academy in March. A Hoban Group representative said, “We will continue our support to discover outstanding science talent and contribute to the advancement of science and technology in the future.”
