According to financial industry sources on the 6th, officials from Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd. attended the '2026 Jeju International Ecology Forum,' held at Jeju Stone Park on the 5th.
As natural capital and biodiversity, alongside the response to climate change, become key issues in corporate management, Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd. gave a presentation in the 'ESG for the Planet' session. Specifically, it shared the group's TNFD disclosure cases and explained the implications for expanding them across the financial sector.
Jeju Bank gave a presentation in the 'International Cooperation' session. Under the theme 'A Sustainable Jeju Connected Through Finance,' it proposed ways for local financial institutions to participate in ecosystem conservation in support of biocultural coexistence.
The opening ceremony on the forum's first day was attended by Global Climate and Environment Ambassador Kang Kum-sil, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Governor Wi Seong-gon, Jeju Bank President Lee Hee-su, and others.
Running for three days from the 5th, the forum is being held under the theme 'Narratives of Nature and the Reconstruction of Society.' About 150 people, including scholars, businesspeople and policy officials from Korea and abroad, are attending to discuss corporate natural capital disclosures, the rights of nature, Earth jurisprudence and other topics.
Shinhan Financial Group joined the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and POSCO Holdings as a sponsor of the forum to help address the climate crisis and biodiversity loss and support the creation of an international ecological platform for coexistence with nature.
A Shinhan Financial Group official said, “In Jeju Island, which is on the front lines of the climate crisis, the holding company and Jeju Bank were able to consider, in their respective roles, how finance can support natural capital and local ecosystem conservation,” adding, “As natural capital is becoming a key factor in corporate management and investment decisions, Shinhan Financial Group will continue to put sustainable finance into practice to promote coexistence with nature.”
