【Financial News, Gangneung = Kim Gi-seop, Staff Writer】Applications for the livelihood stabilization grant, which provides 100,000 won to each Gangneung resident, will open next Monday.
According to Gangneung City on the 6th, the city will begin accepting applications for the livelihood stabilization grant on the 9th. The measure is intended to breathe life into the sluggish local economy and help stabilize residents’ livelihoods.
The payment date depends on the day an application is submitted. Those who apply Monday through Thursday can receive their payment the next day, while payments for applications submitted from Friday through Sunday or on a public holiday will be made all at once the following Monday. The city asked residents to check the payment schedule in advance.
During the first week of applications, from the 9th to the 13th, a weekday schedule based on the last digit of the birth year will be in effect to prevent overcrowding at application counters. Those whose birth year ends in 1 or 6 should apply on Monday; 2 or 7, Tuesday; 3 or 8, Wednesday; 4 or 9, Thursday; and 5 or 0, Friday. Starting on the 14th, applications can be submitted on any day, with no weekday restrictions.
To apply at an eup, myeon or dong community service center, residents must bring identification and a Gangneung Pay card. Those without a card can get one issued on site when they apply.
On the 5th, the city gathered around 100 employees responsible for administering the grants at eup, myeon and dong offices for a training session. They reviewed application procedures, the documents required for proxy applications, and how to respond to residents’ inquiries.
Gangneung Mayor Kim Jung-nam said, "With a weekday application schedule in the first week and a system for payment the following day in place, residents should be able to receive the grant without inconvenience." He added, "I hope the grant will circulate through neighborhood commercial districts and serve as a catalyst, giving small business owners a boost."
