[Financial News] Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX Corporation) will support the modernization of Uzbekistan’s national address information management system. It has won a contract for a technical assistance project to establish a National Address Register, funded by a World Bank loan, and will provide technical consulting worth $325,500 over 36 months.
LX Corporation said on the 6th that it had held a project kickoff briefing in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on the 5th, attended by officials from the local Cadastre Agency, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Uzbekistan, and the Korea-Uzbekistan Digital Government Cooperation Center.
The project was commissioned by Uzbekistan’s Cadastre Agency. LX Corporation formed a consortium with LT Metric and Shinhan Aris (formerly Shinhan Hangup) and won the international competitive bid, signing a contract locally on the 13th of last month.
Uzbekistan has faced difficulties with tax collection, disaster response, and promoting its logistics market because it has used an address system dating back to the Soviet era. LX Corporation plans to draw on its experience introducing and upgrading Korea’s road-name address system to lay the groundwork for systematically managing and using address information.
Key tasks include developing a strategy to establish the National Address Register, standardizing address information and improving laws and regulations, developing the system, and monitoring the implementation of pilot projects.
Through this project, LX Corporation will expand its spatial information cooperation with Uzbekistan, which it has pursued since 2016 through initiatives including the establishment of the National Geographic Information System (NGIS), into the field of address information. It plans to support improvements to postal and logistics services, emergency response, and administrative services by enhancing the accuracy and usability of address information.
Shim Byeong-seop, head of the Spatial Information Division, said, “We will draw on the experience of developing the K-address system and LX Corporation’s expertise to contribute to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s national address information management system.”
