[Financial News] Police scholars and practitioners gathered to discuss ways to improve procedures for challenging the closure of investigations following the separation of investigation and prosecution, as well as the emergency hospitalization system in the field of policing.
KNPU said that its Police Law Center held the Police Studies Joint Academic Conference on the afternoon of the 6th, jointly with the Korean Association of Police & Law and the Korean Police Research Association.
The conference was organized to expand exchanges between police-related academic societies and universities and identify shared priorities in police studies education and research. The co-hosting organizations and eight universities, including Soonchunhyang University, took part.
Under the theme “Key Recent Issues and Prospects in Police Law,” attendees examined legal and institutional issues arising in the field of policing and explored ways to address them.
Presentations addressed the problem of civil disputes leading to criminal complaints and discussed ways to prevent the abuse of complaints and make the recovery of losses by fraud victims more effective.
Procedures for challenging the closure of investigations following the separation of investigation and prosecution were also on the agenda. Time was also set aside to discuss problems with the emergency hospitalization system in the field of policing and ways to improve it.
Son Jae-young, director of the Police Law Center at KNPU, said, “We will work to advance police studies education and research through exchanges and cooperation between universities and academic societies, and to connect academic achievements with the field of policing.”
The Police Law Center at KNPU plans to use this event as an opportunity to identify joint research projects and pursue the regular hosting of joint academic conferences. It aims to expand the cooperative framework in police studies education and research nationwide.
