[Financial News] LG Electronics is expanding its engagement with future generations by opening its first overseas university brand experience space at Vanderbilt University, a prestigious private university in the United States. The company plans to make it a hub for industry-academia collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and engineering and for securing future talent, while enabling students to experience LG products and technologies in their daily lives.
LG Electronics said on the 6th that it had opened the 112-square-meter Life’s Good Lounge in the student center at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, on the 4th (local time). Attendees at the opening ceremony included Park Yong, head of LG Electronics’ Tennessee manufacturing subsidiary; Jeong Un-tae, head of LG Chem’s LGCTA subsidiary; and Park Hyo-seok, who oversees Ultium Cells, as well as other LG affiliates’ and university officials.
The Life’s Good Lounge is LG Electronics’ first brand experience space at an overseas university. It is the first overseas expansion of Another Campus, which operates at domestic universities including Seoul National University (SNU), Hanyang University, Pusan National University (PNU), and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST).
The lounge features LG Electronics’ key products, including the OLED evo G6, the portable-screen LG StanbyME 2, LG Styler, LG UltraGear gaming monitors, CordZero cordless vacuums, InstaView refrigerators, and the PuriCare AeroTower. It is designed to let students naturally experience the products in their daily lives as they study, relax, and socialize.
LG Styler units have also been installed in the career center, which helps students prepare for employment. This allows students who rent suits ahead of interviews and similar events to use the garment-care functions.
LG Electronics also plans to hold a variety of campus events at the lounge. LG OLED gaming tournaments will take place in the gaming zone, which serves as Vanderbilt University’s official esports practice space. The company also plans to organize XBOOM singing competitions and campus parties for students who stay at school during holiday breaks.
LG Electronics plans to use the lounge as a hub for securing future talent and fostering industry-academia collaboration. It will run recruitment-related programs, including company and job introductions, internship information, and talks by invited executives and engineers. The company also plans to broaden its collaboration with the university through undergraduate and graduate research projects, joint work in AI and engineering, and visits to its North American and Tennessee manufacturing subsidiaries. It will also pursue activities in partnership with affiliates operating in Tennessee, including LG Energy Solution and LG Chem.
Since 2018, LG Electronics has operated its Tennessee manufacturing subsidiary and expanded its local business presence. The Tennessee plant was named a World Economic Forum (WEF) Lighthouse Factory in 2023 and has recently also served as a key hub for validating physical AI technologies.
Kwack Do-yeong, vice president and head of LG Electronics’ North America region, said, “We hope the Life’s Good Lounge will become a new point of connection with the vibrant university community,” adding, “We will continue to support Vanderbilt students so they can embrace the value of ‘Life’s Good’ through positive everyday experiences.”
