[Financial News] ATUM CO., LTD. CEO Han Taek-su bought shares in the company on the open market using personal funds. The move is intended to increase his stake, strengthen his accountability for management, and convey to the market his confidence in the company’s medium- to long-term growth prospects. ATUM CO., LTD. said in a disclosure on the 5th that Han’s open-market purchases had increased his ownership stake. Han plans to make additional purchases as funds become available.
The purchase was based on the view that the current share price does not fully reflect the company’s technological competitiveness or the potential of its new businesses. It also signals confidence in future business performance, demonstrated through action by management’s direct investment of personal funds.
Han explained that ATUM CO., LTD.’s corporate value cannot be assessed solely through the lens of its traditional transformer manufacturing business. The company has invested in research and development over an extended period and secured proprietary technologies, building a technological foundation to compete in global markets with 93 patents.
He said, “ATUM CO., LTD. is no longer a mere subcontractor manufacturing transformers as it once was,” adding, “Given its accumulated technology, barriers to market entry, and growth potential in new businesses, there is a substantial gap between the current share price and the company’s actual value.”
He also expressed his intention to further increase his stake. As an executive who has been closely monitoring the company’s competitiveness and business direction, he believes buying shares at current price levels is an investment in the future. Han said he plans to steadily increase his stake through open-market purchases whenever funds become available.
The securities industry believes that purchases of shares by chief executives can have a positive effect on investor confidence. When executives who know a company’s internal situation well buy shares with their own money, the move is generally seen as a signal of expectations for future growth and a recovery in performance.
A representative of ATUM CO., LTD. said of Han’s purchase, “This is an example of directly demonstrating our belief in the company’s technological capabilities and future value through investment,” adding, “We will work to strengthen business competitiveness through the largest shareholder’s responsible management and bring about improved performance and increased shareholder value.”
