[Financial News] IGIS Asset Management, one of Korea’s leading alternative asset managers, is expanding its ESG (environmental, social and governance) activities beyond real estate management to the conservation of the natural environment by creating an ecological garden in Jeju. The move strengthens both the global sustainability assessment performance of its managed funds and its ecological social contribution.
According to the asset management industry on the 6th, IGIS Asset Management will showcase its corporate garden, “Haedam Garden,” at the “2026 Korea Jeju Garden Culture Expo,” held at Barammoru Park in Jeju from the 6th to the 10th.
IGIS Asset Management has created a joint garden of approximately 1,247 square meters, “Modrak Courtyard,” with the Innisfree Moeum Foundation. The name means that many people gather together in Jeju dialect. Haedam Garden has been designed as a space for coexistence with nature, harmoniously combining Jeju’s mid-mountain vegetation with seascapes and using solar-powered lighting inspired by fireflies.
The company is also continuing its ecological conservation work. Last year, it carried out ecological social contribution projects in seven regions at home and abroad, including creating “Ongdalsaem Garden” at the National Botanic Garden of Korea in Pyeongchang to conserve endangered aquatic plants.
The ESG performance of its managed assets is also noteworthy. This year, all four funds managed by IGIS Asset Management that participated in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) earned its top rating, “5 Stars.” The fund managing Twin Tree Tower ranked first in Asia in the mixed-use category.
An asset management industry official said, “The ESG competitiveness of real estate asset managers is increasingly being evaluated not only on buildings’ environmental performance but also on their contributions to local communities and the ecological environment.”
