[Financial News] A man who helped an elderly woman with limited mobility cross a crosswalk, staying with her until they reached the other side even after the pedestrian signal turned red, is drawing attention online.
On the 6th, according to the social media platform Threads, an internet user identified as A posted a video filmed on the 4th at a crosswalk near Gongdeok Station in Seoul.
The video showed a man slowly crossing the crosswalk while supporting an elderly woman. Even after the pedestrian signal turned red, he stayed with her to the end, matching her pace.
The vehicles waiting in front of the crosswalk did not set off until the woman had crossed the road. One motorcycle, however, reportedly went past without stopping.
According to A, the man spotted the elderly woman while crossing the road with his group, asked them to go on ahead, and then helped her.
A said, “The light had already turned red, but every vehicle on the road stopped and waited until the elderly woman had crossed all the way,” adding, “I’m so grateful to the drivers who waited, even though you must all have been busy.”
People who watched the video responded with comments such as, “It may look easy, but it’s really not easy to do that,” “I once saw someone help like that while I was driving, too, and it really warmed my heart,” and “When older people are crossing, I match my pace to theirs and walk slowly.”
