[Financial News] A story has emerged that a delivery driver was secretly eating, near a customer’s home, food that had been ordered to share with their children. The driver reportedly hid in a spot that was not easily visible from outside and ate the food without delivering it.
Recently, a post on Threads, a social networking service (SNS), saying that someone had witnessed a delivery driver eating a customer’s food was shared. The post also included a photo taken at the time.
A, who wrote the post, said they had ordered Chinese food to eat with their children. “I ordered several dishes, including jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk, from a Chinese restaurant to eat with the kids,” A said.
The food had still not arrived even after the expected delivery time had passed. A said they checked what was happening because the delivery driver had not shown up.
While checking the delivery driver’s location, A witnessed an unexpected scene outside the home. “The delivery driver was supposed to come to our house, but didn’t, so I checked the location and could see the driver through the window,” A said.
The delivery driver A found was under the bridge opposite the home. The driver had settled in a spot that would be difficult for people nearby to find, opened the food they were supposed to deliver, and was eating it.
A said they immediately contacted the delivery platform’s customer service center to report what they had witnessed.
The customer service center reportedly said it would take disciplinary action against the delivery driver in question.
A said, however, that they were unable to confirm afterward whether any disciplinary action had actually been taken. A wrapped up the matter without seeing any particular follow-up, but claimed that the driver was still making deliveries around the home.
Netizens who heard the story criticized the delivery driver’s actions. They reacted with comments such as, “That’s not what they’re working for—to eat that food,” “Are they working just to steal food?”, “Even decent delivery drivers end up being looked down on,” and “People like that shouldn’t be working.”
