[Financial News] Comedian Yoo Young-woo worked for a day as an employee at a Gyeongju bread shop, making and selling bread. In response, the bakery operator decided to install child-protection campaign plaques at 10 of its locations and begin making regular donations.
According to ChildFund Korea, a specialist child welfare organization, episode 3 of the web variety show “A Wise Volunteer Life,” featuring Yoo Young-woo’s experience, was released at 6 p.m. that day on ChildFund Korea’s official YouTube channel.
Yoo Young-woo learned how to make Gyeongju bread from master artisan Lee Sang-bok at the main branch of Isangbok Gyeongju Bread in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, then tried making and selling the bread and running the shop. On Hwangnidan-gil, he attracted customers and chatted with local residents and travelers.
Sangbok Myeonggwawon, the operator of Isangbok Gyeongju Bread, decided to join ChildFund Korea’s “A Low Doorbell to Protect Children” campaign following the filming. It plans to install campaign plaques at its 10 locations and make regular monthly donations of 500,000 won to help children in need.
“A Low Doorbell to Protect Children” is a campaign that helps children in crisis easily ask nearby adults for help. It establishes safe places for children in local communities by installing doorbell signs at children’s eye level in convenience stores, pharmacies and neighborhood shops.
Guidelines on how to respond in different situations and provide support when a child asks for help are also provided at locations where the plaques are installed.
“A Wise Volunteer Life” is a web variety show in which participants get hands-on experience with work, volunteering and donating in a range of settings. ChildFund Korea created the series to promote the value and joy of sharing and encourage wider participation.
