[Financial News] Korea Aerospace University said on the 5th that it will hold a seminar titled “Physical AI and World Model: The Future of Next-Generation AI” on the 12th, exploring the future of “next-generation AI” as it expands beyond data center-centric artificial intelligence (AI) into the real world, including robotics and autonomous vehicles.
The seminar will focus on two themes: “physical AI,” which could move beyond the existing NVIDIA-centered AI ecosystem, and “world theory model,” which could overcome the limitations of current AI. Two KAU alumni active at the forefront of industry and academia in related fields will return to their alma mater as speakers.
The first talk will be delivered by Kim Nok-won, CEO of AI semiconductor company DEEPX, on “The Need to Build a Physical AI Ecosystem Beyond NVIDIA.” Kim, a former Apple chip designer, will introduce the need for “edge AI” semiconductors that run AI directly on electronic devices themselves, as well as technology trends extending to everyday devices.
Professor Ahn Seong-jin of the School of Computing at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), who conducted research under the supervision of Professor Yoshua Bengio, a world-renowned AI leader, will then speak on “A New AI Model for World Theory.” Professor Ahn will explain the “world theory model,” which is being developed as a government project to overcome the limitations of today’s generative AI, and outline the direction of next-generation AI development.
The event is part of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Convergence University Project for Advanced Fields. It is organized by KAU’s Next-Generation Communications Innovation Convergence University Project Group and will be held at Vision Hall in the Aerospace Center on campus.
