[Financial News] KH Group is drawing attention for its efforts to nurture promising athletes in chess and inline skating, going beyond traditional sports such as soccer and judo. The aim is to identify future sports talent by expanding support to include sports with relatively limited sponsorship.
KH Group said on the 6th that it had selected a total of eight “2027 Sports Rising Stars” scholarship recipients across five sports—judo, soccer, inline skating, chess and swimming—through the Blue Nanum Foundation.
The scholarship program was established to ease the financial burden on young athletes with talent and growth potential, allowing them to focus on training.
In particular, the program stands out for including not only popular sports but also those with relatively limited opportunities for corporate sponsorship.
Promising athletes face ongoing expenses, including training costs, equipment purchases and competition entry fees. KH Group plans to identify scholarship recipients each year through the Blue Nanum Foundation and provide a foundation for athletes to develop steadily.
A KH Group official emphasized, “The purpose of the scholarship program is to be a strong support for young athletes, so they can believe in their potential and take on challenges,” adding, “We will continue to identify and support promising sports talent.”
A sports industry official added, “In less popular sports, it is not easy for promising athletes to secure stable sponsorship as they develop,” and “Ongoing corporate scholarship programs are meaningful not only for the growth of individual athletes but also for deepening the pool of athletes in each sport.”
