【Financial News, Jeju | Reporter Jeong Yong-bok】 Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Dai Bing visited the Jeju Samdasoo production plant, where he examined the groundwater management system and automated production facilities and expressed his willingness to cooperate in the Chinese market.
According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation on the 5th, the visit was part of the “2026 Korea-China Future Development Jeju-China Exchange Week,” held to mark the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and China. Ambassador Dai, Deng Mingfu, a counselor at the Chinese Embassy in South Korea, and Jin Jianjun, China’s consul general in Jeju, among others, attended.
At the Jeju Samdasoo Visitor Center in Gyorae-ri, Jocheon-eup, Jeju City, the delegation heard about how rain falling on Hallasan passes through layers of volcanic rock to form groundwater, as well as the water-resource management system.
They then toured the automated production process at the L5 Smart Factory, from filling bottles with drinking water to product inspection and packaging. After the tour, they met with Kim Do-young, president of Jeju Development Corporation, to discuss ways to promote exchanges and cooperation between Jeju and China.
Jeju Development Corporation signed an export contract with GS Global and shipped an initial 113 tonnes to China. On June 24, it opened an official brand store on JD.com, a Chinese e-commerce company, and began local sales of its 500 mL and 2 L products.
Ambassador Dai said, “I believe Jeju Samdasoo has tremendous potential to grow in the Chinese market,” and expressed interest in raising brand awareness and promoting exchanges and cooperation.
President Kim Do-young introduced Jeju Samdasoo’s production process and water-resource management system and said he hoped the visit would help expand exchanges between Jeju and China.
