[Financial News] Samsung C&T Resort Group has won an Award of Excellence at the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Global Landscape Awards for an apartment complex playground that combines rainwater recycling with ecological learning.
Samsung C&T Resort Group announced on the 5th that its “Twin Bubbles” project at Hoban Dangjin Sucheong Summit Phase 3 was selected for an Award of Excellence in the Children and Youth category at the “2026 IFLA Global Landscape Awards (GLA),” held recently in Hong Kong.
Twin Bubbles, developed by Samsung C&T Resort Group’s Green Space Solution Team, was designed to give children a space close to nature where they can play and learn about ecology.
The project features a water circulation system that purifies rainwater within the complex and reuses it for water screens, fountains and cooling mist. Trees with a strong capacity to capture fine dust and absorb carbon dioxide were planted in the garden. The design combines water circulation and air-quality improvement features in the playground and garden.
Working with the local community in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, which has been certified by UNICEF as a Child Friendly City, the project also incorporated the needs of experts and children into the design of the space.
Founded in 1948, IFLA identifies and recognizes landscape projects from around 80 member countries around the world each year. This year, in addition to its existing awards by continent, it launched the GLA Awards, which assess projects from five continents together under the auspices of its world headquarters in Versailles, France.
The evaluation used as key criteria challenges in the landscape field—including responding to the climate crisis, resident welfare and biodiversity conservation—as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A jury of global experts selected winners in 19 categories through a blind evaluation.
A Samsung C&T Resort Group representative said, “We will continue working to provide our customers with the best landscape experiences and ecological value by expanding sustainable landscape solutions that bring people and nature into harmony.”
Drawing on more than 50 years of landscaping experience, including the development of the Everland complex, Samsung C&T Resort Group launched its specialized landscaping brand “Everscape” in 2018.
