[Financial News] Jonathan Gray, president and chief operating officer (COO) of Blackstone Inc., held a one-on-one discussion with Lee Kyu-hong, CIO and NPS fund director. They exchanged in-depth views on the global macroeconomic environment and financial market outlook, investment opportunities and risk factors across major asset classes, and long-term investment strategies.
According to investment banking (IB) industry sources on the 5th, Jonathan Gray and CIO Lee Kyu-hong held a discussion at the “Global Investment Insights Discussion” hosted by the National Pension Service that day at its Fund Management Headquarters in Jeonbuk Innovation City. Around 200 people attended, including National Pension Service Chairman Kim Sung-joo and other headquarters executives and staff, representatives of domestic and international financial institutions with offices in Jeonju, and university students from Jeonbuk State.
Blackstone Inc. President and COO Jonathan Gray said, “It was meaningful to be able to exchange views with the National Pension Service on the global investment environment and long-term investment strategies. I am particularly pleased to be able to share investment experience with students who will lead the financial industry of the future.”
National Pension Service Chairman Kim Sung-joo said, “I find it meaningful that a forum to share experiences and insights on global financial markets with a world-class investment expert has been held in Jeonju. We will continue to expand cooperation with global financial institutions and broaden opportunities for young people in the region to experience global financial markets and grow,” he stressed.
One university student who attended the discussion said, “There aren’t many opportunities to meet global financial leaders in person in our region, but this discussion helped broaden my perspective on global financial markets. I will keep President Jonathan Gray’s advice, ‘Stay Calm, Stay Positive, Never Give Up’ (remain calm, maintain a positive attitude, and never give up), in mind and continue working toward my dream of becoming a global finance professional.”
Meanwhile, Blackstone Inc. is the world’s largest asset manager in alternative investments, including real estate and private equity. As of the end of June 2026, it managed approximately 1.8 quadrillion won in assets.
