[Financial News] I have devoted myself to research, convinced that increasing automation is the only way to strengthen global competitiveness at manufacturing sites and widen the gap with those following behind. I was simply doing my duty as a researcher, and I am truly grateful to receive such a major award.
Manufacturing sites are now facing the harsh reality that they will inevitably fall behind if they fail to become smart. Robots are essential equipment at industrial sites and partners that enhance our competitiveness and will help shape our future. In particular, with the advent of the artificial intelligence (AI) era, robots have become more important than ever, and government and corporate R&D investment is also active.
However, many challenges remain before robots can become deeply embedded in our daily lives. Compared with manufacturing and indoor logistics environments, technical and infrastructure barriers remain high when it comes to expanding into diverse areas such as services and outdoor environments.
I will accept this valuable award presented to me today with a deep sense of responsibility, taking it as a call to work even harder. I will continue to devote myself to research so that robots can come closer to our lives. Furthermore, until the day South Korean robotics technology leads the global market, I will do my utmost on the front lines of research and development.
