[Financial News] A hands-on environmental protection program inviting citizen participation will be held at Busan North Port Waterfront Park, featuring the park’s popular black shark character, “Bukangi.”
Busan Facilities Corporation announced on the 5th that it will run the “Ecological Stories Told by Bukangi” program at Busan North Port Waterfront Park from the 8th through the 22nd.
The program was organized to raise awareness of climate change and environmental pollution through “Bukangi,” the black shark that recently drew widespread public attention and affection in a waterway at Busan North Port Waterfront Park. It will give citizens a chance to experience and take part in environmental protection activities themselves.
The main activities include finding endangered-animal plush toys hidden throughout the park, plogging as an environmental cleanup activity, upcycling education, and making sachet air fresheners from discarded gel ice packs.
The endangered-animal search mission involves finding animal plush toys hidden throughout the park and scanning QR codes to view related card-news content. Participants will also learn about the importance of ecosystem conservation through plogging and lessons on climate change and environmental pollution, and spend time making a family pledge to practice environmental protection in their daily lives.
The program will run six times in total during the event, with two sessions each Sunday. Any interested citizens and families visiting the park can take part.
Applications can be submitted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Busan Park Culture and Events Program website. Afternoon sessions will also accept on-site applications, broadening opportunities for park visitors to participate.
A corporation official said, “We organized this program to naturally convey the importance of the environment and ecosystem through Bukangi, a character who has become familiar to citizens.” The official added, “We hope it will give children and families an opportunity to learn why environmental protection matters through enjoyable activities and carry that learning into small actions.”
