[Financial News] KGC has received recognition for its research and development achievements in uncovering new functional value in red ginseng.
According to industry sources on the 5th, GLPro Core, a flagship product of GLPro (pronounced “GLPro”), the blood sugar health brand from Jung Kwan Jang, a KGC brand, won the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the 2026 Korea Food Research Institute Food Technology Awards, held at COEX in Seoul on the 4th.
The Food Technology Awards are held to recognize outstanding products that contribute to the development of the food industry and to highlight technological innovation. The Minister of Science and ICT Award won by GLPro Core is the Technology Grand Prize, the top honor.
GLPro Core is a health functional food for blood sugar management. Its main ingredient is Jung Kwan Jang Red Ginseng (Red Ginseng Extract Powder), which the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has recognized as having the functionality of “helping to regulate blood sugar.” The product is notable for containing 0 g of sugars.
KGC used advanced omics analysis technology to scientifically demonstrate red ginseng’s blood sugar-regulating functionality. In particular, it studied the mechanisms by which red ginseng regulates blood sugar using proteomic analysis, and human clinical trials confirmed significant improvements in six blood sugar-related biomarkers, including fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin and GLP-1.
Since its launch in October 2024, GLPro has surpassed 23 billion won in cumulative sales. In Malaysia, where GLPro Core was first exported in January, monthly export value has also risen to around five times its level at the time of the first shipment, sustaining the brand’s growth.
A KGC representative said, “We will continue to expand research into functionality based on scientific evidence and turn it into products that contribute to consumers’ health.”
