【Financial News, Hoengseong=Reporter Kim Gi-seop】A planner who turned the alleys of Seochon in Seoul into a cohesive content offering is visiting Hoengseong County to put heads together with local planners connecting culture and tourism.
According to the Hoengseong Culture and Tourism Foundation on the 5th, it will hold Planners’ Night, a culture and arts networking event, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the 11th at the Hoengseong Culture and Arts Center and other venues. The event is part of the 2026 Hoengseong Culture and Arts Education project React. This year, it has opened its doors not only to culture and arts planners and artists but also to county residents who have taken part in activities run by the Tourism Academy and local tourism promotion organizations.
At 4 p.m. in the small theater at the Hoengseong Culture and Arts Center, Seol Jae-woo, CEO of Small Days, will give a special lecture titled “How Did Seochon Become a Piece of Content?” Drawing on experience of uncovering stories about Seochon’s alleys, shops and people and weaving them into maps, tours, spaces and cultural activities, he will share local branding examples of how to turn a region’s appeal into a sustainable business.
The networking party will continue from 6:30 p.m. at 60 Samil-ro, Hoengseong-eup. Instead of having participants listen to presentations and discussions, it will take the form of a participatory workshop where they solve missions together, exchange resources and create shared experiences. Its slogan, “Think lightly, connect freely, try anything—get ready to give it a go,” conveys the idea that new initiatives begin with free connections rather than grand results.
There is no participation fee. Up to 40 people may apply online in advance on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kim Dae-jung, CEO of the Hoengseong Culture and Tourism Foundation, said, “Just as the stories of alleys, shops and people came together to make Seochon a piece of content, new stories will emerge in Hoengseong County when cultural and arts practitioners meet local residents active in tourism.” He added, “Since we have opened our doors to the tourism sector for the first time this year, I hope the small initiatives that begin here will grow into cultural and tourism content unique to Hoengseong County.”
