First, SH will provide a 500,000-won consolation payment to each of the 61 households confirmed to have suffered fire damage, as well as a 1 million-won relocation grant to each household that has completed its move, to ease the burden of relocation. Applications for the grants will be accepted at the Guryong Village Relocation Management Center starting on the 11th.
In addition, SH is operating a comprehensive situation room for Guryong Village jointly with the Gangnam-gu Office to help residents return to their daily lives as soon as possible. The situation room continuously monitors residents’ concerns and support needs, while promptly handling complaints from the site and closely coordinating relief assistance from relevant agencies.
Safety measures to prevent another fire are also being rolled out in earnest. SH plans to install additional fire extinguishers at the site and ask Gangnam Fire Station to establish firefighting water supply facilities in fire-prone areas. It also plans to routinely inspect and manage fire hazards, including abandoned wires and unused electrical equipment, and do everything possible to prevent safety accidents.
Previously, SH worked with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Gangnam-gu Office to provide one-on-one relocation counseling to residents displaced by the fire who were staying in temporary shelters, and helped them move to temporary accommodation. SH has secured 96 emergency temporary-use housing units and 339 temporary relocation housing units to ensure stable housing for the displaced residents, and plans to provide additional temporary relocation housing reflecting residents’ preferences. Once the Guryong Village development project is completed, SH plans to supply 1,107 units of integrated public rental housing to help original residents successfully resettle.
SH President Sang-ha Hwang said, “I hope this will offer at least some comfort and practical help to residents left despondent by the unexpected fire,” and emphasized, “We will continue to provide thoughtful support alongside relevant agencies until residents have fully returned to safe and comfortable daily lives.”
