[Financial News] Enhanced security checks will be conducted at the first-stage exam on the 7th for recruiting kindergarten, elementary school and special school teachers in Seoul, to prevent cheating using smart glasses. As concerns have grown recently about exam cheating involving the misuse of advanced IT devices, education authorities are mounting a full-scale response.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 5th that the first-stage competitive examination for selecting candidates for appointment as public (national and private) kindergarten, elementary school and special education teachers for the 2027 school year will be held on the 7th at three test sites, including Gwangnam High School, Gwangnam Middle School and Yongsan High School.
In particular, to prevent cheating using smart glasses, proctors will personally inspect applicants’ glasses before the start of each exam period. All applicants must take off their glasses and show them to a proctor before the first period begins.
If suspicious behavior is detected during the exam, such as frequently touching the arms of the glasses or turning one’s head unnaturally, security personnel will be brought in after that period ends to conduct a thorough inspection of the glasses. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to apply the same smart-glasses checks to the first-stage secondary school teacher exam scheduled for the 28th of this month and the second-stage exam in January next year.
The exam will run from 9 a.m. to 1:40 p.m., while applicants receiving extended time will finish at 2:20 p.m. On the day of the exam, applicants must enter their assigned exam rooms by 8:20 a.m., carrying their admission tickets and identification.
Successful candidates in the first-stage exam are scheduled to be announced at 10 a.m. on December 9 on the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education website.
