[Financial News] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education said on the 5th that it will hold the 14th All-Family Book Festival on the 7th in the outdoor Book Garden at Jeongdok Library in Jongno-gu, with students, parents and members of the public taking part. The festival is a flagship reading-culture event organized by the office to promote the circulation of books and foster a reading culture in local communities.
This year, the value of practical book sharing and public-private collaboration is especially evident. In the Book-Sharing Market zone, libraries affiliated with the education office will share usable books that have been removed from their collections or discarded. The zone will also offer around 2,000 books from among 12,081 donated copies across 87 titles, contributed by private organizations including Good Neighbors’ Seoul Northern Regional Headquarters, further highlighting the importance of reusing resources.
Many will participate, including 23 libraries and lifelong learning centers affiliated with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, as well as school reading clubs and local bookstores. The venue will feature seven zones in all, including Honor Plaza, Quirky Library, Imagination Workshop, Book-Sharing Market and Jumble Playground. It will offer a variety of programs for all ages, such as making bookmark key rings, trying out e-books and viewing book-curation displays.
A ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. that day to present certificates to 100 families selected as exemplary reading families. Before the ceremony, the orchestra of Wonchon Middle School will give a celebratory performance.
Eom Dong-hwan, director of Jeongdok Library, said, "I hope citizens will fully enjoy the pleasure of spending time with books at this event, where hands-on activities, exhibitions and sharing come together."
