[Financial News] Police will seek an arrest warrant on attempted murder charges against a woman in her 50s who wielded a weapon at a professor of psychiatry at Sinchon Severance Hospital in Seoul.
According to police on the 5th, Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul plans to apply to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office for an arrest warrant for a woman in her 50s, identified only as A, this afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder. Police determined that A intended to kill.
A is accused of wielding a weapon against Professor B, a professor of psychiatry, and injuring the professor in a consultation room at Sinchon Severance Hospital in Seoul's Seodaemun District at around 4:35 p.m. the previous day.
B sustained a stab wound about 5 cm long and was taken to the emergency room for treatment. B was reportedly not in life-threatening condition. Police arrested A at the scene on suspicion of aggravated bodily injury.
A told police investigators that she had brought a kitchen knife she used at home in a shopping bag.
A reportedly said, in effect, that she was upset because she had been unable to get treatment at another hospital. However, because her statements were inconsistent, police are checking whether she had actually tried to seek treatment at another hospital, among other things.
Police also plan to check A's past treatment records at Severance Hospital and whether she had an outpatient appointment scheduled.
