[Financial News] BEXCO said on the 5th that it had won the Prime Minister’s Award in the 28th Beautiful Restroom Awards competition, held on the 3rd.
The competition, co-hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Toilet Culture Association, evaluated public restrooms across the country on various factors, including ease of use, design, cleanliness and environmental performance, and selected outstanding facilities.
The restroom in Hall 1 of BEXCO Exhibition Center 1 is a key facility visited by large numbers of attendees. Going beyond basic renovations, BEXCO transformed it into a customized space based on big data analysis of users’ inconveniences. In particular, to ease bottlenecks during large-scale events, it separated traffic flows for men and women, added more women’s stalls, and installed smart monitors at the entrances so visitors can check stall availability and congestion.
BEXCO also built a “Smart QR System” for international attendees, providing real-time inspection updates in four languages, and set up a mobile channel for immediate reports and responses when supplies run out or equipment malfunctions. The interior design incorporates a traditional Korean chrysanthemum lattice pattern and the camellia, Busan’s city flower.
BEXCO also introduced a no-threshold design and Braille signs to create a barrier-free environment for people with mobility impairments. It installed eco-friendly equipment as well, reducing water use by 73% and electricity consumption by 57% compared with before, while advancing its environmental, social and governance (ESG) values.
BEXCO CEO Jun-Seung Lee said, “This is the result of all our employees working together to provide a comfortable environment for attendees from Korea and abroad, as an international convention center.” He added, “Going forward, we will continue to lead the way in advanced sanitation culture as Busan’s flagship exhibition and convention center.”
