According to industry sources on the 5th, Crunchyroll will launch Crunchyroll Pass, a service offering anime content, in partnership with Coupang Play. This will allow users in South Korea to watch a wide range of anime from Crunchyroll on Coupang Play.
The partnership will help Crunchyroll broaden its reach among users in South Korea and enable Coupang Play to strengthen its anime content offering. Coupang Play’s strategy is to expand its range of content choices by adding anime to its existing original content, live sports, movies and dramas.
Akshat Sahu, Crunchyroll’s head for Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, said, “Anime fans today are engaging with and enjoying anime in more ways than ever before, including through platforms, content formats and community activities.” He added, “Through our collaboration with Coupang Play, we will keep pace with how viewers in South Korea consume content while continuing to expand opportunities to experience anime.”
