US stocks rose overnight on easing political uncertainty and expectations of policy changes following the midterm elections. In contrast, the PHLX Semiconductor Sector (SOX) fell 3.13% as Micron (down 7.00%) and Nvidia (down 3.17%) declined amid concerns over data center regulations.
The possibility of delays in new data center construction is weighing on suppliers of AI infrastructure, including semiconductor and power equipment makers. However, some forecasts suggest the impact on investments already underway could be limited.
Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities Co., Ltd., forecast that “given that there are unlikely to be major disruptions to the schedules of data center investments already underway, the impact on existing supply contracts and any deterioration in the earnings outlook for AI infrastructure stocks will be limited.”
