[Financial News] A woman in her 20s who dreamed of becoming a nurse gave eight people a new lease on life through organ donation after brain death and became a star in the sky.
The Korea Organ Donation Agency said on the 5th that Jeon Su-yeon, 22, donated her heart, lungs, liver (split), both kidneys, both eyes, and skin, a type of human tissue, at Chonnam National University Hospital this past February, saving eight people before passing away.

Jeon suddenly collapsed and was taken to the hospital, but never regained consciousness and was declared brain-dead.
Jeon’s parents, who had often said, “If anything happens, let’s donate our organs,” decided after much deliberation to donate their daughter’s organs. They thought it would be a comfort to know that her heart would keep beating in someone else’s body and that someone could see the world through her eyes.
Jeon was a quiet, thoughtful youngest daughter who would give up things she wanted for the sake of her older sister, who was one year older and had been ill since childhood, and tried not to burden her family.
“A daughter who had to grow up early and was like a friend ... I love you”: A mother’s final words
Her mother, Jeong Yeong-sun, said, “Because her older sister was ill, Su-yeon grew up early,” adding, “She was a dependable support for the family, and to me she was like a friend I could open my heart to.”
Jeon had a knack for working with her hands. During her school years, she learned baking and earned a national hairdresser’s certificate. More recently, she had been preparing for a nursing assistant certificate and nurturing her dream of saving money, going to college, and becoming a nurse.
Jeong gave her final farewell: “Su-yeon, don’t be sick there. Be happy and do all the things you couldn’t do here to your heart’s content. Don’t worry about your sister or Mom and Dad; do what you want. Thank you for being born as my daughter. I love you.”
