【Financial News, Hoengseong = Kim Gi-seop】Automotive parts companies and testing and evaluation institutions from the Seoul metropolitan area are set to tour the Future Mobility Research and Demonstration Complex in Hoengseong County, which is equipped with everything from battery testing facilities to an autonomous-driving test track.
According to Gangwon State on the 5th, it will hold a two-day familiarization tour of the future mobility industry in and around the Future Mobility Research and Demonstration Complex in Hoengseong County from the 5th through the 6th. On the first day, participants were introduced to the province’s policies for fostering the future mobility industry and its business support programs, then toured key testing and evaluation facilities for batteries and electromagnetic waves and visited a test track for autonomous-driving demonstrations.
On the 6th, a business networking seminar will be held to share industry trends and discuss companies’ testing and evaluation needs and potential for technical cooperation. Around 30 companies and institutions are taking part, mainly auto insurance organizations, universities, testing and evaluation institutions, and automotive parts companies from Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. They are organizations that have kept in touch and regularly exchanged information since first connecting at mobility expos and similar events.
The event aims to introduce companies to the research and demonstration infrastructure developed around Wonju and Hoengseong, increase use of testing and evaluation facilities, and broaden the foundation for technical cooperation between companies and investment attraction. The province plans to assess each company’s interest in the facilities and its demand for equipment use, and channel that into practical support and follow-up cooperation. It will also organize a follow-up familiarization tour bringing together key future-vehicle facilities in the province, including the Wonju Future Mobility Innovation Center.
Choi Seok-jin, head of the province’s Strategic Industries Division, said, “This is an opportunity for companies to see firsthand and assess the uses of the infrastructure in Wonju and Hoengseong County, ranging from battery and electromagnetic testing facilities to an autonomous-driving test track. We will provide tailored support for the testing, evaluation and technology development each company needs, and turn that into results in investment attraction and industrial cooperation.”
