[Financial News] The “2026 National Assembly Legislative Expo,” where the public can propose legislative and policy ideas and experience cutting-edge industrial technologies, opened at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on the 5th. A distinctive event was also organized in which a robot delivered legislative hopes proposed by future generations to the speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea is holding the expo for two days, from that day through the 6th, at the National Assembly’s Central Lawn Plaza and other venues. The event was organized to connect the public’s voices to actual legislation and policy and to support business innovation. A total of 88 institutions, companies and organizations, including the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, the government, public agencies, businesses and civic groups, are taking part.
At the opening ceremony, two children read aloud the “Public’s Legislative Hopes Proposal,” and Spot, a four-legged robot developed by a South Korean company, delivered it to National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Speaker Cho Jeong-sik. The event symbolically expressed the Assembly’s determination to support the growth of future industries, including artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, through legislation.
The expo venue is divided into four exhibition zones: Economy, Culture, Future and Legislation. In particular, 28 companies, associations and organizations are taking part in the Economy Zone, showcasing advanced technologies including semiconductor products, humanoid robots, hydrogen-powered vehicles and AI home appliances. Exhibits from major industries such as shipbuilding, aviation and secondary batteries are also on display.
In the Future Zone, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute is displaying a model of Nuri (KSLV-II) at one-tenth scale. The Legislation Zone offers virtual reality (VR) experiences related to industrial accidents and housing consultations for young people, among other programs. A Public Legislative Proposal Center has also been set up where visitors can submit policy ideas themselves.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea plans to forward proposals received at the expo to the relevant standing committees and lawmakers’ offices for use as review materials, and to link outstanding proposals to measures such as the introduction of bills. The closing ceremony on the 6th will feature the “People’s Hope Concert,” with performances by KISS OF LIFE, Paul Kim and Jaurim, among others.
Speaker Cho said, “Legislation that changes people’s lives begins with listening to the people’s voices,” adding, “I hope this will be an opportunity to support business innovation and shared growth and lay the foundation for a major leap forward for the Republic of Korea.”
