Ahn Jae-wook, who emceed his daughter’s sports day, rebukes complainers: “They complained the cheering was too loud ... Why try to erase those memories?”

[Financial News] Actor Ahn Jae-wook shared how nearby residents filed noise complaints after he emceed his daughter’s sports day.
Ahn Jae-wook, Jung Young-joo, Lily and Yoo Byung-kwon appeared on MBC’s “Radio Star,” which aired on the 4th.
Ahn Jae-wook said he had been reluctant to appear on television because of his childcare responsibilities, and that he is raising two children, one in fourth grade and the other six years old.
Ahn Jae-wook said, “I try to spend as much time as I can with my children, at least during breaks from working on projects.”
He explained, “I really feel how precious my relationship with my children is. Since we’re only now making memories, I have (less time left) than younger dads. I try to spend as much time as possible with my children.”
He added, “Until recently, they wondered, ‘Why do people (they don’t know) recognize Dad and say hello?’ Now they know what their dad does for a living, and when someone greets him, they’re even more excited. If no one acknowledges him first in an elevator, they find themselves looking at them for no reason,” he shared.
Kim Gu-ra agreed, saying, “My daughter always calls me ‘Mr. Kim Gu-ra’ when we go out.”
Ahn Jae-wook also shared a story about emceeing the sports day at his daughter’s school. He said, “It’s like a dad volunteering his talents. I volunteer by reading books aloud, and I also emceed my daughter’s sports day. I introduced the games for each grade and asked the parents to give a bigger round of applause.”
He continued, “What was a little disheartening was that, just as it was about to end, I heard complaints had come in from the neighborhood. People complained that the children’s cheers and the music were too loud.” He explained what happened, adding, “So I said, ‘Those kids’ sports-day sounds last only a few hours a day. How could that possibly be noise?’”
He lamented, “Don’t we all have memories of elementary school? Why are a few adults trying to take away the children’s precious memories?”
Jung Young-joo agreed, saying, “I deliberately moved to a place right in front of a school because I wanted to hear that sound.”
