[Financial News] Dreamus Company’s music platform FLO is launching a weekly vote to support artists in partnership with CJ ENM’s global K-pop platform Mnet Plus. The results will be linked to FLO’s interactive streaming feature, Cheer, allowing fans to keep showing their support by listening to music together.
Dreamus Company said on the 5th that FLO Weekly Pick, an official weekly vote jointly run by FLO and Mnet Plus, would launch in the first week of November. Anyone in South Korea or abroad can participate.
Voting opens every Wednesday at 2 p.m. and runs until midnight the following Tuesday. Each week, FLO selects new candidates, including artists who have recently made a comeback or are celebrating a birthday. Voting takes place on Mnet Plus, and within a week of its close, a cheering playlist for the top-ranked artist will be released on both companies’ apps and official social media channels. The playlist will include FLO cheering tickets.
Fans can use the cheering tickets in the playlist to play music on FLO and support the artists. They can also purchase cheering tickets directly to take part.
Cheer is FLO’s interactive streaming feature that lets fans buy cheering tickets and play their favorite artists’ playlists together. Within a month of its launch, it surpassed one million cumulative support plays, and around 130 artist fandoms are currently participating. FLO also offers Cheer Cards showing each fan’s contribution and a playlist comments feature.
As part of a launch event running through December, FLO will post ads for the three acts receiving the most support each month at major subway stations in Seoul, including Gangnam Station, Hongik University Station and Express Bus Terminal Station. Plays using cheering tickets received through Mnet Plus voting will also count toward the monthly total.
Mnet Plus surpassed 50 million cumulative members last October and recorded a peak of 20 million monthly active users (MAU). It is available in around 250 regions worldwide, with overseas users accounting for about 80% of its user base. Dreamus Company expects the collaboration to turn votes from global fans into cheering streams on FLO.
Seong Jin-a, head of the Traffic Unit at Dreamus Company, said, “Voting and Cheer are connected in that both are ways for fans to express how they feel about their favorite artists. Through FLO Weekly Pick, the feelings conveyed through voting will lead to an experience of listening to music together and cheering on the artists.” Seong Jin-a added, “We will broaden the ways fans can connect so they can support artists and take part together in a variety of ways.”
