Celltrion said on the 5th that its Brazilian subsidiary launched the autoimmune disease treatment Koyvolma (active ingredient: ustekinumab) and the bone disease treatments Stoboclo and Osenvelt (active ingredient: denosumab) in Brazil last month.
Koyvolma is supplied in prefilled syringe (PFS) formulations of 45 mg and 90 mg, as well as a 130 mg vial formulation. Stoboclo was launched as a 60 mg PFS formulation, while Osenvelt was launched as a 120 mg vial formulation. The company plans to broaden treatment options for local healthcare professionals and patients by offering products in a range of dosages and administration formats.
Koyvolma is an ustekinumab product sold under the Steqeyma brand in global markets. It is approved for four indications: plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. In Brazil, Celltrion decided to use Koyvolma as a separate brand, taking into account the local language and market characteristics.
Celltrion plans to actively use the local network it has built through its existing business to expand sales of the new products. Its existing products have already established a foothold in Brazil. Remsima, an autoimmune disease treatment containing infliximab, has a market share of about 50% in the local private market. Herzuma, a breast and gastric cancer treatment containing trastuzumab, and Truxima, a blood cancer treatment containing rituximab, have also demonstrated their competitiveness, securing market shares of about 40% and 30%, respectively.
With the launch of these new products, the total number of Celltrion products sold in Brazil has risen to 10. Its autoimmune disease treatment portfolio has expanded further, with ustekinumab added to its existing infliximab, adalimumab and omalizumab products.
Celltrion aims to boost sales and marketing synergies across its products, expand opportunities to prescribe new products at existing accounts, and increase market share for each product.
Further new product launches are also in the pipeline. Celltrion is preparing locally for the year-end launches of Idenzelt, an ophthalmic disease treatment containing aflibercept, and AVTOZMA, an autoimmune disease treatment containing tocilizumab.
A Celltrion official said, “Building on the customer network and trust we have established in Brazil through our existing products, we plan to establish Koyvolma, Stoboclo and Osenvelt in the market early and expand prescriptions. We will also proceed with subsequent product launches without a hitch, continually broaden our product portfolio and treatment areas, and accelerate growth in Brazil and the broader Latin American market.”
