[Financial News] Hanwha Aerospace will build a plant in Poland to produce guided rockets for the Homar-K (HOMAR-K) multiple rocket launcher. The plan is to expand defense cooperation with Poland from weapons supply to joint production by establishing local production facilities.
Hanwha Aerospace said on the 5th in a LinkedIn post aimed at users in Poland that its Polish joint venture, Hanwha WB Advanced System, had held a groundbreaking ceremony for a guided-rocket production plant the previous day in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland.
Hanwha WB Advanced System is a joint venture established by Hanwha Aerospace and WB Electronics, which is part of Polish defense company WB Group.
The new plant will produce the CGR-080 guided rocket used by Homar-K. Initial production is expected at the end of 2029, with full-scale mass production scheduled to begin in 2030. Homar-K is a weapons system developed from Hanwha Aerospace’s domestically developed K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher to meet the requirements of the Polish military. Hanwha Aerospace has expanded its cooperation with Poland’s defense industry by supplying K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers and Chunmoo to Poland.
To produce guided rockets locally, Hanwha Aerospace plans not only to build production facilities but also to transfer technology and engineering know-how to its Polish partners, train skilled personnel and establish a local supply chain. The company aims to strengthen Poland’s capacity to produce guided rockets domestically and meet the Polish military’s long-term logistics needs.
Hanwha Aerospace said, “Defense cooperation between Poland and South Korea has entered a new phase, moving beyond the supply of advanced weapons systems to building strategic production capabilities in Poland.”
The company added, “This investment goes beyond simply building a factory; it will increase Poland’s self-sufficiency in producing advanced rocket munitions and strengthen supply-chain resilience,” and emphasized, “It will help reliably meet the Polish military’s long-term needs.”
