Gulliver's Travels / Jonathan Swift / Dasan Geulbang
[Financial News] Jonathan Swift's satirical novel Gulliver's Travels, first published in London, in the United Kingdom, in 1726, has been released in an unabridged, complete translation to mark its 300th anniversary. This edition, published by Dasan Geulbang, brings together all four voyages and stories that were not included in the first edition in a single volume.
In Lilliput, Gulliver is a giant; in Brobdingnag, he becomes so small that he can stand on the palm of a giant's hand. As he travels through Laputa, the flying island, and various other places, he witnesses experiments far removed from reality. On his final journey, he reaches the land of the Houyhnhnms, ruled by rational horses, and encounters the Yahoos, who resemble humans.
The supplementary text 'The Rebellion of Lindalino' tells the story of the city's residents, who resisted the oppression of the King of Laputa. The edition also includes a letter Gulliver sent to his cousin and the publisher's note. Newly created black-and-white illustrations, a commentary on the work, and a chronology of the voyages have been added. ALTARI LAB translated it.
