[Financial News] Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Comprehensive Arts said on the 4th that it will establish an “AI+Arts Management” major in its master’s program for the spring 2027 semester and recruit new students. The program aims to foster interdisciplinary talent capable of leading a changing arts ecosystem by combining AI technology with expertise in the cultural and arts sector.
The program has tailored its classes to accommodate working professionals who are continuing their studies while employed. It will operate as a small program with a cohort of 10, offering hybrid classes that combine online and in-person instruction on weekday evenings over two years (four semesters). This will help professionals working in the field, such as at performance venues, exhibition spaces and cultural foundations, build their expertise without undue burden.
The curriculum goes beyond theory and focuses on practical, real-world application. Students will learn how to apply AI across a range of work, from planning performances and exhibitions to audience analysis, marketing and arts organization management. The program will also support the launch of cultural and arts businesses that use AI to create social value (impact businesses). It will also provide opportunities for a range of practical experience, including collaboration with the university’s Graduate School of Software Convergence and participation in projects run by Arts Council Korea (ARKO).
Son Chang-woo, a professor and department chair in Kookmin University’s School of Music, said, “A new chapter in arts management opens when people who understand the arts use AI,” adding, “We will help those with experience in the arts field use AI in their own language and develop new models.”
