[Financial News] JW Pharmaceutical Corporation continued to grow its revenue in the third quarter, driven by growth in its major prescription and over-the-counter drugs. However, operating profit declined, partly due to higher research and development (R&D) costs.
JW Pharmaceutical Corporation announced on the 4th that its standalone revenue for the third quarter of this year was 211.1 billion won, up 6.3% from the same period a year earlier. Operating profit fell 10.7% to 29.1 billion won, while net income came to 19.8 billion won.
For the first three quarters, revenue totaled 629.9 billion won and operating profit 94.6 billion won, increases of 10.2% and 17.3%, respectively, from the same period a year earlier.
Prescription drugs (ETC) led growth by business segment. Third-quarter ETC revenue rose 5.8% year on year to 176.1 billion won. LivaloZet, a treatment for dyslipidemia, generated revenue of 30.9 billion won, up 16.6%. Combined revenue for the five products in the Livalo family, including Livalo and LivaloZet, increased 9.6% to 53.1 billion won.
Revenue in the IV solutions segment rose 4.1% year on year to 73.5 billion won. The Winuf line of total parenteral nutrition solutions generated revenue of 23.1 billion won, basic IV fluids 21.7 billion won, and the enteral nutrition solution Encover 12.3 billion won.
The over-the-counter (OTC) segment grew 18.0% year on year to 15.7 billion won. In particular, the artificial tears brand Friends posted striking growth, with revenue rising 60.0% to 7.2 billion won.
A JW Pharmaceutical Corporation representative said, “Continued growth in our original prescription drugs is helping us maintain stable revenue momentum.” The representative added, “We will continue investing in research and development while strengthening the competitiveness of our key products to build a foundation for medium- to long-term growth.”
