【Financial News Chuncheon=Kim Gi-seop, Reporter】University students in Gangwon State visited local companies that make blood glucose meters and medical devices to explore firsthand opportunities to work in the region.
According to Gangwon Technopark on the 4th, university students in Gangwon State participating in the Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces Youth Growth Link Project visited medical device and digital healthcare companies Nuga Medical and i-SENS that day.
At Nuga Medical, the students toured the development and manufacturing processes for medical devices and healthcare products and learned about key products and technologies. At i-SENS, their next stop, they learned about diagnostic device technologies, including blood glucose meters and in vitro diagnostic medical devices, and explored related jobs and career paths. They also met with company representatives, heard about the skills required for jobs in the field and how to prepare for employment, and learned about job opportunities at local companies.
The program was organized to connect young people with companies in the medical and healthcare sectors, strategic industries in Gangwon State, in line with the government’s balanced growth strategy for Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Self-Governing Provinces. The strategy is a national balanced-growth initiative that aims to ease the concentration of people and resources in the Seoul metropolitan area by dividing the country into five super-regional areas and three special self-governing provinces—Gangwon State, Jeonbuk State and Jeju Province—and developing them. Gangwon Technopark plans to continue developing company-focused site visits and industry-academia cooperation programs to help young talent find work and settle in the region.
“After seeing firsthand where blood glucose meters and medical devices are made, the students would have felt that they can pursue their dreams in Gangwon, too,” said Yun Wan-tae, head of the Future Business Division at Gangwon Technopark. “We will expand site visits and industry-academia cooperation tailored to the kind of talent companies are looking for, and help young people put down roots at companies in the province.”
