[Financial News] Kookmin University’s University Job Plus Center said on the 4th that it had successfully completed this year’s programs, supporting career exploration and job preparation for 1,136 local young people. In particular, participation by students from other universities more than doubled from last year, demonstrating the center’s effectiveness as a “regional youth employment hub” that breaks down barriers between universities.
According to Kookmin University, total participation in this year’s “K-Support Regional Youth Career and Employment Support Service” rose about 29%, from 882 last year to 1,136. Among them, participation by students from other universities surged 109%, from 376 last year to 787 this year, accounting for more than half of the total. A further 349 participants were enrolled at Kookmin University.
The program ran from April 13 to October 16. Kookmin University made active use of online platforms, including Naver Cafe, the videoconferencing program Zoom, and video courses, so that young people could access job information regardless of time or place. The analysis is that improved access for young people at other universities led to the sharp increase in participation.
The program centered on special lectures and mentoring by working professionals, with content that participants could put into practice immediately. It held four career and employment lectures covering personal-statement writing and interview strategies, as well as 28 job-specific discussion sessions featuring alumni working at Hyundai Motor and in the automotive, semiconductor, biotech, and other corporate sectors.
An official with Kookmin University’s University Job Plus Center said, “Through a range of online content, we provided local young people with broad opportunities to prepare for employment,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen young people’s employment capabilities through cooperation among universities and further lower the barriers to employment support services.”
