[Financial News] As cold winds blow and temperatures drop in the mornings and evenings, interest in a warm, cozy bed is growing. Hotel groups are introducing a range of products that let people enjoy at home the bedding used in hotel rooms. As more consumers seek to bring the comfort they experience at hotels into their everyday lives, hotels are also expanding their sales channels to online stores and department stores.■ The cozy comfort of a hotel room, brought homeAccording to the hotel industry on the 5th, LOTTE HOTELS & RESORTS offers bedding used in its hotel rooms through its in-house bedding brand, HEON. The brand’s range includes duvets, pillows, mattresses, towels and bathrobes.
The signature product, HEON Classic, is identical to the bedding used at The Grand Lotte Seoul Executive Tower and features lightweight, highly insulating functional materials. Its mattress uses a Two-Way Cushion System co-developed with Simmons, with different levels of softness on the top and bottom. HEON Premium is made to order, with processing kept to a minimum to preserve the natural qualities of its materials.

SIGNIEL, LOTTE HOTEL’s top-tier brand, offers products made in collaboration with the Italian bedding brand Frette. The products are identical to the bedding actually used in rooms at SIGNIEL Seoul and SIGNIEL Busan. They are made with premium Egyptian cotton and are known for their subtle sheen, soft feel, and lightweight yet cozy warmth. The collection comprises 21 items, including duvets, pillowcases, bathrobes, pajamas and sleep masks.
Demand for hotel bedding is also growing. LOTTE HOTEL’s HEON sales last September were up about 46% year over year. In response, LOTTE HOTEL opened a new HEON store at LOTTE Department Store - Jamsil Store last month. It is the first time LOTTE HOTEL has brought one of its own brands into a department store.

Josun Hotels & Resorts operates the bedding brand The Josun Hotel, drawing on about 110 years of accumulated hotel-management expertise. The brand combines the characteristic comfort of hotel bedding with modern, understated design.
Its signature product, the Lux Hungarian Goose Down Duvet, uses Hungarian goose down of the same kind used in Josun Hotel rooms. It has a fill power of at least 800, a measure of goose down’s ability to regain its loft, and uses a three-dimensional quilting method to reduce shifting of the filling to one side.
The company has also introduced new products for the fall and winter season. Damiani is characterized by its subtle sheen and soft feel, while Blanche, also newly introduced, is a comforter featuring hotel-style linear embroidery. The Edel Polish Goose Down Duvet Insert uses Polish goose down with a ratio of 95% down to 5% feathers and has a fill power of at least 830, helping it retain warmth.
The Josun Hotel first opened a pop-up store at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam Branch in 2016 and became a permanent store in 2020. Since then, it has ranked first in annual sales among bedding stores at Shinsegae’s Gangnam branch for six consecutive years.

Hotel Shilla also provides a distinctive sleep environment through its private-label bedding. The duvet inserts at Shilla Monogram Gangneung use Hungarian goose down. The product is notable for having earned RDS certification, an animal-welfare standard, and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, which verifies textile safety. The pillows are filled with duck down, and their outer fabric is made from 40-count, 100% cotton.
Shilla Stay also uses Hungarian goose-down duvet inserts and duck-down pillows. The pillow inner covers are made from 40-count fabric blended from cotton and polyester. Hotel Shilla takes part each year in SOFURN & LIFE SHOW, a furniture and interior design exhibition, where it showcases bedding from Shilla Monogram Gangneung and Shilla Stay, broadening its reach beyond hotel guests to general consumers.
A Hotel Shilla representative said, “We are conveying to customers the comfortable sleep environment and brand experience that our hotels strive for, with a focus on the bedding actually used in our rooms.”

■ From personal preferences to custom-made beddingWALKERHILL HOTELS & RESORTS offers its own bedding through the premium living brand Sweet Home by Walkerhill. The brand offers both goose-down bedding and made-to-order bedding that customers can customize by choosing their preferred materials and specifications.
The goose-down bedding is made to the same specifications as the bedding used in rooms at Grand Walkerhill Seoul, Vista Walkerhill Seoul and Douglas House. The duvets are filled with Polish goose down, making them lightweight yet cozy. The pillows use equal amounts of Hungarian goose down and feathers to provide stable support for the head and neck. Since last September, the company has also offered made-to-order bedding tailored to customers’ preferences. Customers discuss their preferred fabric feel, duvet weight, bed size and bedroom interior before choosing the materials and filling.
Demand for Walkerhill bedding is also growing. Sales of home-living products at Walkerhill’s official online store, Walkerhill Store, rose about 70% in the first half of this year compared with the same period last year. Walkerhill plans to expand product development to reflect customers’ preferences and sleep habits, and to broaden its range to include cushions, bedspreads and bathrobes.
A Walkerhill representative said, “We see Sweet Home by Walkerhill as a starting point for extending the hotel lifestyle experience into customers’ homes,” adding, “We are considering expanding the business into total bedroom styling, carrying the hotel’s ambience and experience of relaxation throughout the bedroom.”
