According to industry sources on the 4th, INNOBIZ Association held a briefing on the results of its smart factory ODA project in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the 3rd, presenting results from the project launched in 2023.
The project digitized production processes at 30 Indonesian SMEs and cooperatives. It trained 134 technical personnel through programs in Korea and local training, and established a smart factory training center at BINUS University.
Korean companies also recorded export gains. EM Focus, a smart factory solutions company, signed a two-year supply contract that day with a local Indonesian company for its self-developed manufacturing execution system (MES). The contract is worth $1.5 million (about 2 billion won).
A foundation for continued local technological innovation after the project’s completion was also established. The Indonesia Cooperative and SME Technology Innovation Association (AVITEK KUKM) officially launched that day, and INNOBIZ Chairman Jung Kwang-cheon and Meliana, a BINUS University professor and the association’s inaugural chair, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote the spread of technology between the two countries.
About 100 officials from the governments and relevant institutions of both countries attended the event, including Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono and South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Yoon Soon-gu. The two sides also unveiled a white paper outlining the project’s four-year results and future directions for cooperation.
INNOBIZ Chairman Jung Kwang-cheon said, "This ODA project is significant because it has completed a self-reliant ecosystem for Indonesian SMEs while also laying the groundwork for Korean innovation-driven companies to enter global supply chains," adding, "We will broaden Korea-Indonesia technological cooperation across the ASEAN market."
INNOBIZ Association administers the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ certification system for technology-innovative SMEs. It supports the overseas expansion and technology exchanges of Korean INNOBIZ companies. As of the end of last month, there were 23,585 INNOBIZ companies.
