[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung will launch a YouTube program, 'The President's Y,' to answer the public's questions and explain policies. He will explain current issues and the direction of state affairs, and will also respond directly to public comments posted on his social networking service (SNS) channels.
Senior Presidential Secretary for Public Relations and Communication Seong Ki-hong said at a briefing on the 4th at the Chunchugwan Press Center at the Blue House that "the president is launching a new YouTube program to communicate directly with the public."
Recording for the first episode was completed this morning, and it will be released after editing at 9 p.m. on the 5th through the YouTube channel Lee Jae-myung TV and other channels. Each episode is expected to run for about 30 minutes. Unless circumstances such as overseas trips make it unavoidable, the plan is to continue airing episodes every two to three weeks for the time being.
The 'Y' in the program's title stands for the first letter of YouTube in English. The title conveys the aim of communicating with the public in more varied and in-depth ways through YouTube, in addition to communication through X (formerly Twitter). It also alludes to the English word 'why,' which asks for a reason, reflecting the intention to fully explain the president's thinking and the background to the direction of state affairs.
Secretary Seong explained, "Since taking office, the president has held press conferences or meetings with the press corps covering Cheong Wa Dae 23 times on various occasions, and has regularly communicated with the public through SNS." He added, "We created a program on YouTube to answer the public's questions and explain policies."
The first episode focused substantially on the president's philosophy of communication. Future episodes will also cover answers to questions on current issues, policy explanations, and responses to public comments.
Secretary Seong said, "Future episodes of The President's Y will include answers on current issues and explanations of policies, and the president will also respond directly to public comments posted on his SNS channels."
The program will be hosted by Son Jeong-eun, a CEO and former MBC announcer. Secretary Seong said, "We expect the host to draw on her extensive broadcasting experience to ask the president, on the public's behalf, the questions they want answered."
Taking YouTube's characteristics into account, the program will be conducted in a relaxed atmosphere. Secretary Seong explained, "We plan to express our views as candidly as possible in the language of the public and answer their questions."
