[Financial News] Trot singer Won Hyuk, comedian Lee Yong-sik’s son-in-law, broke down in tears during a live broadcast.
Won Hyuk appeared on “Challenge! Dream Stage,” a segment of KBS1 TV’s cultural program “AM Plaza,” which aired on the 4th.
Won Hyuk shared an update, saying, “At first, my father-in-law opposed our marriage, but thanks to the support of so many people, we were able to get married. Now we’re living happily, and we even have a beautiful daughter.”
He continued, “There were comments saying, ‘How long are you going to keep working by relying on your father-in-law?’ and ‘You’re in show business thanks to Lee Yong-sik.’ At first, I didn’t pay much attention to reactions like that. It’s true that I was able to work thanks to my father-in-law, and I’m grateful just to appear on broadcasts together.”
But after his daughter was born, he became the head of the household and began to worry little by little. “I wondered how long I could keep appearing on broadcasts by following my father-in-law around. I’m the one who has to take responsibility for my family until the end,” he said.
Soon afterward, after his performance, Won Hyuk was asked to send a video message to his wife and daughter. “Watching my daughter made me realize that Dad can do it, that there’s nothing Dad can’t do,” he said, breaking down in tears.
He went on to vow, “For my beloved wife and daughter, I’ll become a singer who gives my best on any stage from now on.”
